O.K. I'll bite at this question.

If you are dealing with water based soils, wet cleaning is the best cleaning option, If you are dealing with wax, oil and grease, drycleaning is the way to go. In drycleaning, there are several solvents to choose from all with pros and cons.

Of these solvents, its continues to be a industry challenge to get an enviromentally friendly solvent which match the benefits of perc, There is a huge amount of pride and money on the table promoting each solvents benefits as we all search for perfection. However, I will answer your simple question. "If you fall in the camp of being enviromentally proactive as I believe our industry should be, its hard to dis-credit the universal solvent of nature - water.

If the garment can be cleaned in water, I give it a wash in it. It'll be my first choice. If the garment cannot be washed in water, then I'll run it through my hydrocarbon machine. I've used hydrocarbon for over 40 years and had only one case of fire which was contained in the malfunctioning drying machine. Wasn't such a big deal at the time.

I' ll definitely go for hydrocarbon solvents like Exxon-Mobil’s or Chevron Phillips. These solvents are comparatively less aggressive than perc but require long cleaning cycle
